Title: Are You There
Text: Luke 18:1-8
Topic: Trusting God Enough to Cry Out
Teacher: Jack Taylor
It’s not often in the Gospels when a writer comes right out and tells you the meaning of a parable before they even retell the parable, but that is exactly what Luke does in chapter 18. He begins by saying, “Then Jesus told them a parable about their need to pray always and not to lose heart.”
I guess some lessons are too important to be left up to chance as to whether or not we will catch Jesus’ true meaning and this is just one of those moments.
Life comes at us hard and can be relentless. When we are hard pressed on every side, it can be easy to lose faith. Perhaps that is why Jesus wanted to give us an illustration of what it looks like to stick with it and continue praying even when the struggle becomes overwhelming. Perhaps you’ve had a week just like that. If so, maybe Jesus wants to speak these same words to you today: “Keep praying and don’t lose heart.”
