We accept and encourage donations through the Bridge Community Foundation so we can continue to elevate the level of access, funding, education, and resources we provide to communities of color.

We emphasize community building as an integral part of revolutionizing maternal health.

We strive to build a future where every family, regardless of their background, has equal access to competent care and resources, resulting in improved maternal health outcomes for all.

Our goals

  • We are dedicated to elevating the level of access available to communities of color, ensuring that they have equal opportunities to quality healthcare services, education, and support. By reducing barriers to access, we aim to improve maternal health outcomes for families in need.

  • We recognize the importance of working at the grassroots level to address the unique challenges faced by communities of color. Through community-based initiatives, we provide support that is tailored to the specific needs and circumstances of the families we serve.

  • We actively seek and allocate charitable assistance to support maternal health initiatives. By providing financial resources, we enable the implementation of programs that directly impact the well-being of mothers and other birthing people, and infants.

  • We believe that education is key to empowering families to make informed decisions about their health and well-being. Through training and informational resources, we equip individuals with the knowledge and tools needed to advocate for themselves and their families.

  • Our organization is committed to addressing the systemic disparities that contribute to unequal maternal health outcomes. We advocate for changes within the institution of healthcare, raise awareness of the issues, and work collaboratively with stakeholders to foster lasting change.

  • The Bridge Community Foundation recognizes the strength in collaboration. We actively seek partnerships with other organizations, healthcare providers, and community leaders to maximize our impact and create a united front against maternal health disparities.

  • We hold ourselves accountable for the impact of our actions. Through rigorous evaluation and data-driven approaches, we continuously assess our programs' effectiveness to ensure that we are making a meaningful difference in the lives of families we serve.

  • Maternal and infant health disparities are symptoms of broader underlying social and economic inequities that are rooted in racism and discrimination.

  • Disparities in maternal and infant health, in part, reflect increased barriers to care for people of color. Research shows that coverage before, during, and after pregnancy facilitates access to care that supports healthy pregnancies, as well as positive maternal and infant outcomes after childbirth. Overall, people of color are more likely to be uninsured and face other barriers to care.

  • Numerous studies have documented the benefits of having a doula present during labor. A recent Cochrane Review, Continuous Support for Women During Childbirth, showed a very high number of positive birth outcomes when a doula was present. With the support of a doula, women were less likely to have pain-relief medications administered and less likely to have a cesarean birth. Women also reported having a more positive childbirth experience.
